I'm In The Wind

AN-26 · Blues Rock · Texas Blues-Rock Boogie · 23 August 2026

I’m In The Wind is a road-running country rocker about a man who always seems to be one county line ahead of whatever — or whoever — is looking for him. There’s a woman who wants a kiss, somebody who wants money, somebody who wants answers, and apparently even a reward with his name on it. While they’re counting dollars, he’s counting miles.

But he isn’t really running scared. He simply likes the road, the freedom, and the possibility of another clean slate around the next bend. Maybe someday someone will convince him to park the bike for good — but she may have to ask twice.

A playful outlaw-flavored song with a big twin rumbling underneath it, a devilish grin, and just enough trouble in the rearview mirror to keep things interesting.

Lyrics

Sun came up in my rearview mirror Tank half full and the road looked clear Got a little black book and a worn-out grin By the time they come looking I'm in the wind There's a girl down south says I owe her a kiss A man up north says I owe him six Somebody heard there's a price on my name I heard that story, but I ain't making claims One wants money, one wants love One wants answers I ain't thought of They can look where I've already been By the time they get there— I'm in the wind I'm in the wind Hear that motor talking Let the trouble begin Somebody wants my loving Somebody wants my hide Somebody's counting dollars While I'm counting miles Let 'em come looking Let 'em ask where I've been They'll find a little dust 'Cause I'm in the wind Stopped for gas at a one-light town Pretty little waitress said, “You settling down?” I said, “Darlin', that's a mighty dangerous thing” She laughed and said, “Coward” I said, “Maybe this spring” Sheriff at the counter gave me half an eye I gave him a nod as I walked on by Don't know if he knew me, don't know if he cared But five minutes later I wasn't there One wants money, one wants love One says heaven's keeping track above One old friend just wants a drink again But before they find me— I'm in the wind I'm in the wind Hear that motor talking Let the trouble begin Somebody wants my loving Somebody wants my hide Somebody's counting dollars While I'm counting miles Let 'em come looking Let 'em ask where I've been They'll find a little dust 'Cause I'm in the wind I ain't running scared, I'm just running free There's a world out there that's expecting me Every county line is another clean slate And I've always had trouble With staying in one place Maybe someday some woman will know How to make me park this thing by the road She'll lean on the doorway with that certain grin Say, “You done running?” I'll say, “Ask me again.” I've been chased by love I've been chased by luck Chased by a dog and a tow-truck once I've been chased by things I probably deserved And a couple more things That I swear I never heard of Who wants me? Somebody looking for love! Who else? Somebody wants that reward! Anybody else? Man, there's a whole damn line! Well... Tell 'em I'm busy. I'm in the wind I'm in the wind Got that big twin rolling And a devilish grin Somebody wants my loving Somebody wants my hide Somebody wants an answer They can get in line Let 'em come looking Let the whole thing spin All they're gonna catch Is me in the wind Yeah, I'm in the wind Motor running Blacktop humming I'm in the wind If anybody asks— You ain't seen me.
